If you want to get in on the portable revolution, then one of the best options available is to look around on the internet for used laptops. Do you think of laptops in the same way many of us do: a fairly small portable computer that can open and close like a suitcase, with all of the capabilities of a desktop. Acer laptops have a well-deserved reputation for being some of the best laptops in the world.
Refurbished laptops have been around for a long time and will remain so because people everywhere are catching on to the incredible savings. And, refurbished laptops are definitely worth the value and savings. Refurbished laptops are a good value as the customer gets upgraded models with faster speeds, more memory, and more features at a discounted price.
Refurbished laptops are computers that have been bought new by a consumer and has been used between 1 day and 3 months.
Do not sacrifice quality for a special price, first priority is to make sure you’re buying laptops that can get the job done. And don’t let the small size fool you, laptops are very powerful.
Full laptops are the style notebook you’re used to, they range in size and weight, but are generally much heavier and bulkier than the other options. Refurbished laptops are considerably less than a new notebook computer and the best part is that it is easier than ever to hook up a home network.
Many new laptops can cost thousands of dollars while most refurbished laptop computers usually cost less than a couple of grand, and often less than $500. The major reason for the trend with laptop computers, is that they have simply become more of a tool and less of a novelty. Also, the evolution of dual core processors is big news in the laptop world and as they become more common in the marketplace it will be interesting to see how they cope with the multitude of applications that will be thrown at them.
No matter what awards for best rated laptops or what percentages of the world market that Acer acquires over the next few years, you can be sure that Acer will continue to put out the innovative products that they are known for. Personally, I think of used Toshiba laptops as retaining the same quality as the day they were bought, with solid keyboards, which made them expensive to buy, but also means that on the second hand market they hold their value.
Used laptops are those that have been used by a consumer for any length of time and then resold. No matter how you feel about laptops, they – and their successors – will be around for a long time. Of course, no matter how fascinating it is to think about the portability of laptops, there should be some concern about making work so portable. You should take a look at the software that is featured on Apples laptops and desktop computers.
The advances in computer electronics have brought us to the point where we can take these mobile and portable notebook computers all over the world. We can conduct business from home with our notebooks, and even connect our laptops to a computer network in San Fransisco from a coffee shop in Texas.
Laptops are the perfect educational tool for students. They can handle an innumerable amount of tasks and serve many different functions that allow students to consolidate all of their class assignments and home studies into one convenient location, which simplifies workflow and increases productivity.
The two most important things to look for in a student laptop are portability and battery life. This laptop will likely be carried in a backpack or shoulder bag from class to class, so you will definitely want a system that is light and easy to transport. There is also no guarantee that you will have access to an auxiliary power supply in your classroom or on campus, so you will most likely want a battery that lasts up to several hours per charge.
Desktop real estate can be limited in your class, so you want to make sure your laptop is compact and economical in size, preferably around 14″ X 10″ in general dimensions.
As far as individual specifications, you can get by with most base configurations. A 1.66GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, and a standard DVD/CDRW drive should suffice, but you may wish to upgrade certain components depending on whether or not you want to use your notebook for any extra curricular activities, such as gaming or multimedia production.
Unless you intend to do higher-level networking, or unless your school requires domain-based authentication to access the school network (check with your IT department), Windows XP Home Edition should more than meet your needs for an Operating System.
Lastly, you will need some office suite software to process and edit your reports and class assignments. Microsoft Office Basic will be able to handle most of your needs, however, if you plan on doing any slide-show presentations or website creation, you will want to go with Office Pro.
These are the main things you need to know and consider before purchasing a student laptop. This is just a general outline. Feel free to make additional customizations if you have specific requirements for school.

Now once you have realized that laptop is an essential thing for you, the next step that follows is that what are the things that can make your laptop the best. Or we can say that there are some steps that help you maintain an overall good health of your notebook computers.
The top five things that make your laptop the best are:
1.The most important thing in your notebook computer is your battery. You should always try to maintain a good health of your battery. In order to do so, you should charge the battery of your notebook to the fullest of its capacity after running it into empty, once every week.
2.A hard disk clean up should be performed every six months. You should clean up the files that are of no longer in use with security back-ups.
3.When you feel that you no longer need to work on your laptop, do not simply unplug your notebook PC. Your laptop should be shut down in a proper manner. Also never leave your system over night after finishing your work.
4.To maintain a good health of your notebook, you should continuously detect and repair the errors on your hard disk by using a scan disk tool, once a month. You should also use the de-fragmenting tool, which is there in your accessory box, to de-fragment your hard drive.
5.Always use proper cleaning materials to clean up your LCD display.
Taking note of above mentioned five points, your laptop will always work as smooth as a newly bought notebook.
When you think of portability many people believed that you would not be able to get the power and functionality as compared to a desktop system, today is not true. Desktops are the preferred computer because of the ability to add peripherals and the power are much more than a laptop, but today laptops are able to add peripherals and have the computer power and have the ability to snap into a docking station which emulates a desktop. That has now changed and laptops are becoming affordable, light weight, faster and the ability to add many peripherals via USB.
Laptop computers are great portable offices, and as technology increases and speeds of computers increase, we are seeing battery life also increase and provide longer usage time with out the need to be plugged in. An extra battery is always a wise purchase when buying a used laptop. The batteries on many systems only last for about 2 years so if you get more life out of the battery you are one of the lucky ones. Battery life varies with the efficiency of the processor, so check out battery life in any reviews you read. When looking at the weight of the laptop don’t forget to add in the weight of the battery chargers and other accessories, this should be included in the weight of the laptop.
Manufactures are able to create tiny screens, even as small as 8 inches, this size screen is great for portability, but many people are finding that the fonts and images are to small and to use they need to start squinting. The size of the screen is also important. When looking at laptops look at the hinges of the screen and make sure they are strong and do not look like they would crack or separate from the laptop. Every so often you need to clean your screen and get the dust out of your keyboard, make sure you handle the screen carefully because the screen is fragile and can break easily.
Wireless is the wave of the future, so when looking to purchase a laptop make sure you get one with wireless built in. To use the wireless you will need a wireless router at home. This is always good to remember if you are using a wireless system make sure you make it secure so no one can steal your data or use your wireless system.
There is a variety of different types of memory, and it is important that you choose memory that is compatible with your notebook computer. Many computer owners don’t like to upgrade because of many reasons: they do not have the knowledge, fear of voiding the warranty or ruining their computers and some people don’t know what to order, or by opening the computer they might break the system and need to pay more to get it fixed. Like a lot of things in life, a computer memory upgrade seems more complicated than it actually is.
With today computers having the ability to add many peripherals be sure that the laptop comes with many USB ports to add devices like a mouse, printer, digital camera, etc.
If you are on tight budget, buying a refurbished laptop is a great idea. Many manufactures have refurbished laptops and will sell them at a reduced price which will save a lot of money. Many of the refurbished laptops even come with warranties.
A short intro : Supposed that i have 700$ to buy a laptop and I look over the internet to achieve my goal, then I take into consideration all the laptops I find, I compare them and finally I choose the one that I believe is the best. One last thing before I start : I will not take into consideration refurbished laptops.
Now, let’s begin. Here are the laptops I found :
Systemax Neotach Notebook PC
Lenovo 3000 C200 Notebook PC
Acer Aspire 7110 Notebook PC
HP nc6220 Notebook PC
Acer Aspire 3050-1594 – Mobile Sempron 3400+ 1.8 GHz – 14.1″ TFT<
Acer TravelMate 2480-2551 – Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz – 14.1″ TFT
Acer Aspire 3102WLMi – Mobile Sempron 3200+ – 15.4″ TFT
Acer Aspire 3690-2196 – Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz – 15.4″ TFT
Acer TravelMate 2480-2705 – Celeron M 410 1.46 GHz – 14.1″
Toshiba Satellite A105-S1013 – Celeron M 380 1.6 GHz – 15.4″ TFT
Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 – Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz – 15.4″ TFT
Lenovo 3000 C200 8922 – Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz – 15″ TFT
So I analyzed these laptops and I came to a conclusion. I took into consideration the type of processor, it’s FSB, the memory(most of them are 512 MB, but ones are DDR(333 MHz) and others are DDR2(533 MHz), which are better), the hard-drive(IDE or SATA-SATA is better)and number of rotations 4200,5600,7200, the video adapter, battery, the screen size and it’s type(wide or not) and, of course, the price.
You may be surprised, but sometimes not the expensive one is the better one.
I found two of them that i would buy. Here they are:
Acer Aspire 7110 Notebook PC – 699.97$
Acer Aspire 3690-2196 – Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz – 15.4″ TFT – 648.95$
I choose 2 because one has a display of 15.4″ and one a 17″ , both wide.In my case a 17″ display is not a problem because I usually use my laptop at home. And as a matter of fact, this is the one i would be interested in and this for 17″ display, for his hard-disk of 120 GB, for his DDR2 512 MB, for his DVD RW dual layer and his bluetooth. The processor is not the strongest, but is not bad at all.(1.46 GHZ at 533 FSB).
Desktops are passe. And in case you are still stuck with one, replace it immediately with a more convenient notebook or a slim laptop. Laptops were a luxury item at the time of their introduction, but as it happens with every technologically inspired product, they too became a necessity with the passage of time. Today, you wouldn’t be surprised to find every other kid in the block proudly boasting about or displaying his own. It is no longer just a luxury or a necessity, it is a device to be proudly owned and flaunted!
Laptops are such marvellous pieces of technology that they have taken the whole world by storm. Advancements are being made in it with each passing day and every new innovation becomes outdated even before it actually becomes known to the world. Prices of laptop too keep fluctuating with the latest ones being atrociously expensive and the precedent models immediately coming within your reach. Various factors that determine the price of any laptop are its brand, model and configuration. Always keep your usage and purpose in mind before going in for the laptop of your choice.
Laptops, no doubt, are expensive commodities. But with the advent of e-shops and Cashback portals, they are now well within the grasp of common man. Web offers cheap new laptops under various schemes at prices that are much lower than the high street. Plus, you also receive additional gifts and incentives in the form of cashbacks that such portals offer to their members. All in all, it’s the customer who gains the maximum out of the whole bargain. This exciting and innovative piece of technology is up there for grabs…click your mouse and it can be yours forver!
